Vietnam tourism grows impressively in the first quarter of 2025

 Vietnam’s tourism industry has started 2025 with positive signs. In the context of the industry striving to achieve the target of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors and 120-130 million domestic visitors this year, the results of the first 3 months of the year show encouraging growth in many localities.

In the northern provinces, tourism activities have clearly improved. Hoa Binh recorded 1,650,000 visitors in the first quarter, up 5.8% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 33.6% of the annual plan. Notably, the number of international visitors to Hoa Binh increased sharply by 56%, reaching 230,000, while domestic visitors reached 1,420,000, up 1.2%. The province’s total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 1,680 billion, up 5.7% over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Phu Tho welcomed 241,900 visitors with 288,006 visitor days, including 2,590 international visitors. The total revenue from tourism activities of the province is estimated at 902 billion VND. This is a positive figure, especially when the province is preparing for the upcoming Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day activities.

Nghe An, the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, also recorded positive results with 2,220,000 visitors in the first quarter, including 1,350,000 overnight visitors, up 7% over the same period last year. International visitors reached 22,000. The province’s tourism revenue reached VND6,656,750 billion, up sharply by 23% over the same period in 2024.

The Central region continues to affirm its position as an attractive destination for international tourists. Quang Nam recorded 2,240,000 visitors and stays in the first quarter, up 10% over the same period in 2024. In particular, international visitors accounted for a large proportion with 1,725,000, up 11%, while domestic visitors reached 515,000, up 9%. Revenue from tourism activities reached VND 2,860 billion, up 26% over the same period, bringing the total social income from tourism to VND 6,721 billion.

Quang Tri also recorded impressive growth with 756,000 visitors, a sharp increase of 41.68% over the same period in 2024. International visitors accounted for 67,210, domestic visitors reached 688,790, and overnight guests were estimated at 207,690. Social revenue from tourism reached VND 559 billion, of which specialized revenue was estimated at VND 302 billion, an increase of 26.9%.

Da Nang, the tourism center of the Central region, is continuing to promote its stimulus program with the theme “Enjoy Da Nang 2025 – Multi-experience”, introducing many new products and attractive service packages for tourists.

Ho Chi Minh City continues to affirm its leading role in the country’s tourism industry with 1,635,620 international visitors in the first quarter, up 18.2% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 19.2% of the annual plan. Domestic visitors to the city reached an impressive 8,574,194, up 6.3% over the same period and reaching 19.1% of the annual plan. The city’s total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 56,662 trillion, up 26.7% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 21.8% of the annual plan.

Promoting growth momentum and responding to the tourism stimulus program of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities have planned to implement many attractive activities in the second quarter of 2025.

Specifically, Phu Tho will focus on developing diverse types of tourism such as MICE, agricultural tourism, cultural tourism and community tourism. In particular, the province will implement cultural, sports, tourism and promotional activities to serve the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and the Cultural – Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in 2025.

Nghe An province will organize the 2025 Lotus Village Festival and inaugurate the “statue of Uncle Ho visiting his hometown” on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday. Quang Nam plans to organize the exhibition “Tourism space, cultural heritage, scenic spots and traditional handicrafts of Vietnam” within the framework of the National Tourism Year – Hue 2025. Da Nang continues to promote the Tourism Stimulus Program with a commitment to ensure product quality, services, security, safety and transparency in business policies…

With positive results in the first quarter and well-planned development plans in the second quarter, Vietnam’s tourism industry is on track to achieve the target of welcoming 22 – 23 million international visitors and 120 – 130 million domestic visitors in 2025.
